The 2024 Path of Totality crossed Mexico, the US and the eastern tip of Canada, but virtually all of the Northern Hemisphere experienced the eclipse to one degree or another. Only part of the Yukon and most of Alaska were excluded. The manner in which the eclipse skirted the northernmost shore of South America is a bit uncanny, and not far removed from what we saw with the 2021 Canadian-Siberian annular eclipse.
The sun and moon were in the constellation Pisces (the Fish) which could relate to the Jonah/Nineveh correlation seen by others.
The third and final eclipse of the series came ashore in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. It headed up through northern Mexico, crossed the US border at Texas and intersected the 2023 path of annularity just west of San Antonio. Continuing its northeastern track, it crossed the 2017 path of totality at Carbondale, passed over two Great Lakes and finally exited Canada in Newfoundland.
COMFORT & AID
The PoT first contacted Mexico at Isla Socorro (succor, aid or relief) about 800 miles from the mainland. The umbra then entered the mainland at Mazatlán, an Indian name meaning “land of deer.” Psalm 42 perfectly fits the narrative of this eclipse, especially in light of the souls under the altar (Revelation 6) crying out to God asking how much longer they will have to wait before He executes judgment on their behalf.
As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
My tears have been my food
day and night,
while they say to me all the day long,
“Where is your God?”
I say to God, my rock:
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?”
As with a deadly wound in my bones,
my adversaries taunt me,
while they say to me all the day long,
“Where is your God?”
Psalm 42:1-3, 9-10
Is it a stretch to tie Psalm 42 to the city of Mazatlán?
Mazatlán is in the state of Sinaloa, an area controlled by the largest and most powerful of the Mexican drug cartels. I pulled up the coat of arms of Sinaloa and found this. Here we have a deer as if it was thirsty and panting, looking longingly down at water. Consider also the number of the Psalm: 42.
Have the number of martyrs yet been completed? One has to wonder how many innocent lives have been slaughtered by the cartel, and how many times people have cried out for divine relief from their brutal oppressors.
Exiting Sinaloa, the eclipse achieved its Points of Greatest Duration and Greatest Eclipse near the small town of Nazas, Durango.
Shortly after entering Texas, the umbra crossed the annular path of the 2023 eclipse at A Peace of Heaven Log Cabins & RV Park, 11 miles north of Utopia, Texas.
The 2017 eclipse spoke of peace. The 2023 eclipse spoke of persecution gradually progressing from discomfort to death. The 2024 eclipse begins with words of comfort and assurance to the suffering Church. God will provide aid and relief to His people. As they suffer and thirst, He will grant them a peace that surpasses all understanding. They are not alone, and they will not be forsaken.
Departing A Peace of Heaven, the umbra passed over San Antonio before it crossed Jonah, Texas, just to the northeast of Austin.
THE SIGN OF JONAH
Of the two US towns named Jonah, only this one lies within the path of an eclipse.
As the crowds were increasing, He [Jesus] began to say, “This generation is a wicked generation; it seeks for a sign, and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah. For just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation."
Luke 11:29-30
Throughout scripture, we see instances where prophetic utterances have layered meanings. In this passage we see Jesus commenting on the Pharisees' demand that He give them a sign. Jesus states that as Jonah was a sign to the people of Nineveh of coming judgment, so too would He be a sign to the very persons He was speaking to. In Matthew 16:4, Jesus elaborates on this by saying that as Jonah spent three days and nights in the fish, He would spend three days and nights in the heart of the earth (the period between His crucifixion and resurrection).
In light of what we have seen thus far, it stands to reason that the persecution, death and resurrection of the Church will likewise be a sign to the evil and perverse generation that will witness the second coming of the Messiah.
But history tells us that there was another sign that accompanied the preaching of Jonah. According to Wikipedia, "The Bur-Sagale eclipse occurred over the Assyrian capital city of Nineveh in the middle of the reign of Jeroboam II, who ruled Israel from 786 to 746 BC. According to 2 Kings 14:25, the prophet Jonah lived and prophesied in Jeroboam's reign." If in fact a solar eclipse was seen over Nineveh in connection with Jonah's visitation, then it is no wonder that the people of the city responded immediately, completely and sincerely.
If God is drawing the story of Jonah into this series of three eclipses, what is He saying?
