If the 2017/24 crossing represents the Day of the Lord, what does that mean for the Church? Though many believers have been martyred, the rest of the Body of Christ still remains on the earth. For them, the Day of the Lord is a day of rejoicing and jubilation. Read and heed the words of Jesus our Lord.
“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near!”
Luke 21:25-28
THE PEACE OF THE SAINTS
Earlier I mentioned that the actual crossing is not in Carbondale, but in the vicinity of Makanda, about 6 miles south-southwest of Carbondale's city center. If you zoom in close enough you’ll see a very small road less than a quarter mile long called . . . Salem Road. If this is a sign from God and I am interpreting it correctly, it tells me that amidst all the turmoil, anguish and upheaval, God’s remnant Church will still be experiencing the peace that surpasses all understanding.
The 2017 Salems were prominent, being five cities located very near the centerline. But the Peace of Heaven RV Park and Salem Road crossings are miniscule and insignificant to all but those with ears to hear. This is the peace of the saints; that still, small voice assuring us that God is ever present with His people.
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:4-7
The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
Deuteronomy 31:8
THE RAPTURE
After the 2024 umbra crosses the 2017 centerline, we immediately encounter the next major stop on our journey. 144 miles northeast of New Madrid, Missouri and 18 miles southwest of King, Indiana is the unincorporated community of Rapture, Indiana. Interestingly, it is the only populated area named Rapture in the entire United States. To those who do not know, the term Rapture refers to the resurrection of the saints - both dead and alive - at the return of Christ.
I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.
“O death, where is your victory?
"O death, where is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:50-57
In 2011, CNN reported that the population of Rapture, Indiana was one. Just sit still and let that sink in for a moment. Prophetically speaking, what does that mean?
If God is truly speaking, I believe He is telling us that when Jesus returns, one united body will rise to meet Him – the glorified Body of Christ! You may also find it interesting to learn that a mere five miles west of Rapture is the town of New Harmony, IN, located just inside the Illinois/Indiana state line. This is a second confirmation that after 2,000 years, the Church is finally united!
The implications of this are both staggering and sobering. Many believers in the American Church have been taught that the Rapture of the Church occurs prior to the Tribulation. This is not the message I am seeing here. Scripture states that the Church will be saved from His wrath, but it just as clearly says that it will be subjected to His judgment.
Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.
1 Peter 4:16-19
In light of Jesus’ statement in Matthew 24:36 that not even He knows the day nor the hour, I would ask you to prayerfully consider the following passage from the 14th chapter of Revelation. The scene takes place after the last of the seven trumpets have sounded. Take careful note of the fact that the One on the cloud had to be told when to put in His sickle.
Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and seated on the cloud One like a Son of Man, with a golden crown on His head, and a sharp sickle in His hand. And another angel came out of the temple, calling with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Put in Your sickle, and reap, for the hour to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is fully ripe.” So He who sat on the cloud swung His sickle across the earth, and the earth was reaped.
Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, the angel who has authority over the fire, and he called with a loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, “Put in your sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, for its grapes are ripe.” So the angel swung his sickle across the earth and gathered the grape harvest of the earth and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
