Over the course of my life I've gotten to know people all over the world from various faith traditions. But my Muslim and Jewish friends I hold especially dear. Many of us have become very close, regularly gathering in homes to read our holy books together as we share food, fellowship and vigorous (though always respectful and loving) discussion. We truly believe our scriptures, and we rightly defend our faiths - but always with minds that are open to receiving new things, or to gaining further insights into our own beliefs. Some of you have shared meals in my home, or holidays with me and my Christian friends. You are well aware of our sincere love for you.
Like both groups, I worship the One True God.
With my Muslim friends, I share the same belief in "The Book," and Issa as the Messiah, but I see Him as the Son of God.
With my Jewish friends, I share the same Old Testament and belief in God's promise of a Messiah. But I believe that Yeshua perfectly fulfilled that which was prophesied by Isaiah the Prophet.
For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given,
and the government will be upon His shoulders.
And He will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on the throne of David
and over his kingdom,
to establish and sustain it
with justice and righteousness
from that time and forevermore.
The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9:6-7
I believe that even though this eclipse specifically relates to the Body of Christ, there is no doubt that these signs are there for anyone who has ears to hear. And I also know that our heavenly Father has a special place in His heart for all who truly seek to know and follow His ways. Scripture says, A broken and contrite heart, God will not despise. (Psalm 51:17)
It is my hope that you would approach our God with that very same attitude, humbly seeking His wisdom and direction as you prayerfully consider who Jesus is, and what all this means for you.
Shalom aleikhem & As-salamu alaikum!
Kurt
