At the moment, this site is a one man show. But many friends have served as sounding boards along the way, and I greatly appreciate their counsel, knowledge and interest. Others have helped out with the website, videos and research. They have been especially valuable as prayer partners, lunch companions, and fonts of wisdom, support and encouragement. These men and women are true people of God: pastors, missionaries and fellow ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their names are Elliott, Dalton, Ken, Dan, Jose, Jeremiah, Robin, Belva, Racquel and Sam. If there are any I've missed, please let me know!
A special thanks to Lucinda Bailey, my great friend, encourager, advisor and Texas Ready business partner for listening to me prattle on about eclipses and the end of the world for lo these many years.
The following statements represent their feelings as well as my own, which is why I use the term "we." We are united in our belief that God has something to say through these celestial events, and are likewise united in our desire to share what we have found.
SkyScroll exists to shed spiritual light on cosmological phenomena from a biblical perspective. We believe that God created the heavens and the earth, and that one of the reasons He placed the lights in the heavens was to serve as signs. (Genesis 1:14) We seek to discern those signs and discover His message in light of God’s purpose, character and word.
We approach this objective from a Christian worldview. We understand that there will be those who disagree with us – not only in terms of the proposed evidence and possible interpretations we present, but in the very idea that God speaks to us through His creation. For that matter, there are many who discount the idea of God and creation altogether. That’s OK. If you like what you see here on SkyScroll, we welcome your visit and your comments. If not, that’s why God created the back button.
In a nutshell, we believe that the Bible is the authoritative word of God. We believe in the One True God who manifests as the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe that His Son came to earth in fulfillment of prophecy in order to save us from sin and death, and that salvation is to be found in no other.
The Bible has much to say about the “last days,” and we strongly believe that those days are upon us. We would not be surprised to see the return of the Messiah in our lifetime.
We believe that God placed the lights in the heavens for several reasons, one of which is to serve as signs for our instruction. We don’t believe that every night sky has anything more to say than to declare than the glory of God, but we do believe that there are special times when we would do well to look up and ponder.
We do not believe in astrology, divination or witchcraft. The Bible teaches that these things are an abomination to God – it is He who controls our destiny, not the stars. But we also know that God uses creation to reveal his purposes, power and nature (both His personal nature as well as the natural order He created).
Visitors are free to believe what they will, and we respect different opinions. Examine the totality of what we present, weigh the evidence and draw your own conclusions.
Blessings to all.
